Emergency systems.

Emergency Lighting.
Emergency lighting must be provided in all non-domestic buildings and in common areas of houses of multiple occupancy. This is a statutory requirement as specified in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Emergency lighting is vital in order to illuminate emergency exit points and evacuation routes so that this process can happen swiftly and safely. It is essential that your emergency lighting is regularly tested, along with your fire alarm system and should also be included as part of your regulatory requirement to service your fire safety system at least every 6 months.
Emergency Voice Communication Systems.
An EVC system allows two-way voice communication between a central control point and a number of other strategically located points within the building (also knows an outstations). These areas are often known as Refuge Areas and have been specifically identified as areas within a building where people can be relatively safe. Occupants will have been informed that in a crisis situation, if they are unable to immediately evacuate, they should make their way to a Refuge Area. The design and competency of an EVC system ideally meets British Standards BS5839. An EVC system enables the fire service (or other emergency services) to communicate with people still inside a building during an emergency situation. This is as an aid to expedient evacuation, to evaluate people who require additional assistance to leave (perhaps due to infirmity or disability) and also those who may be suffering from injury.
Public Address Voice Alarms.
When an emergency incident takes place it is natural for people to panic. Research has shown that people can display confusion and inaction at the sound of an alarm, but will react and respond to clear voice messaging. A Public Address Voice Alarm system enables clear and calm instruction to be given which mitigates panic. It allows for a safe and controlled building evacuation. This type of system is particularly helpful in public spaces or large buildings.
Portable Extinguishers.
A portable extinguisher enables people to control small fires efficiently, which can often prevent their spread. When portable fire extinguishers are used, this often prevents significant fire damage and injury. A fire spreads extremely quickly so immediate action is crucial. There are a variety of different types of extinguisher available which use various different solutions, from water, to foam to powder and more. Our team can advise what is best for your premises and also provide information and training so that this equipment can be used safely and effectively.
Aspiration Systems.
An Aspiration System functions by drawing in samples of air and testing them for the presence of smoke. A network of pipes is installed in a building with strategically placed sampling holes located at various points. Air is drawn into the network via a pump, it then passes through a two-phase filter process (in order to remove any contaminants) and then finally enters into a detection chamber where a laser is used to test it for smoke particles. Aspiration Systems are especially useful in areas of extreme temperature (both hot and cold), data rooms (such as server rooms), waste sites (where dirt and dust might set off other alarm systems), places where detection needs to be discreet and in areas which are difficult to access (such as very high ceilings).
