Fire Detection and Life Safety System Installation.
It is essential that your fire alarm and life safety system is professionally and competently installed by a highly skilled engineer. This is an investment for your business and a source of life protection for your staff. It is also a requirement enshrined in law. A thorough approach with an attention to detail is all important.
Using an installer that has third party accreditation, such as LPS1014 or BAFE SP203 is recommended. LPS1014 covers all aspects of the system installation from design through to handover. BAFE is a modular accreditation so it is important for clients to check that the installer holds modules for the entire accreditation: design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. By choosing an accredited company you have the reassurance that your engineer is fully qualified to install your system.
The type of system, cabling plan, number and location of your alarms will have already been mapped out during the design phase of the project. Depending on the size of your premises and their business use, alarms may be installed on every storey, corridor or even every room. If your premises has a partitioned area, open plan office or enclosed areas, all of this will have been taken into consideration within the plan.
Once a design has been approved and an order received, the installation process gets underway as follows:
Project Manager is appointed
Project Co-ordinator will purchase all equipment including all necessary cabling and lifting equipment if required.
First and second fixing of cables and equipment commences. Once complete, testing begins. This includes the testing of all cabling, devices and sound levels. All results are recorded. Finally a visual check will be made of each device.
The system is then handed over to the commissioning engineer and commissioned onto the panel system. The system is fully addressed and any cause and effect or phased evacuation will be tested and results recorded.
Final Handover* to client takes place: including drawings, operators manual, appropriate certification – BAFE or LPS1014. System training is provided.
*Please note: the system may need to be soak tested proper to handover.
