Defensor Life Safety Joins Forces to Create Essential Winter Supplies for Those in Need in Support of The Bridge Homelessness to Hope charity in Leicester.
At Defensor Life Safety, we believe in making a difference in the communities we serve. Recently, our team joined forces to help those most in need, transforming donated fabric into 51 full-length sleeping snoods and 15 blankets. These will be donated to The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, a Leicester-based charity supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. This project represents our commitment to social responsibility, and the entire Defensor team played a part in its success.
The Bridge Homelessness to Hope is a charity dedicated to providing essential support to individuals over the age of 18 who are facing homelessness. Whether rough sleeping, sofa surfing, or living in unsuitable accommodations, The Bridge offers a range of services to help them regain their footing. Established in 2009, their mission goes beyond simply providing meals. Their holistic, compassionate approach offers everything from washing facilities and hot meals to caseworker support for housing applications, benefit claims, and mental health services. Our donations of snoods and blankets will support their ongoing efforts, helping keep vulnerable people warm as winter approaches. Alongside these items, we will also be contributing additional supplies, such as warm clothing and kitchenware, next Thursday.
On the 23rd of October, the Defensor Life Safety team gathered to put our skills into action. Expert machinists Steve, Vali, Sue, Gail, and Linda worked tirelessly to stitch the snoods and blankets, while Sharon and our Managing Director Helen directed the cutting room. Dave and Franco took charge of turning and preparing the fabric, while Wayne Mitchell and his dad, Paul, helped fold everything, ready for packing. It was a day filled with teamwork, laughter, and the rewarding feeling of knowing that our collective efforts would make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Next Thursday, we will be delivering the finished goods to The Bridge, along with additional donations of warm clothing and fleece throws. Together, we can make a difference in our community.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of Steve Ellis, the owner of Curtain & Blind Co. Limited. Steve, who operates next to our head office, was instrumental in securing the fabric and organising its production. Through his industry connections, he sourced the materials and arranged for experienced seamstresses to help. Steve and his company have a long history of supporting crisis initiatives, including creating blankets for Ukrainian refugees and scrubs for NHS front-line workers during COVID. We are incredibly grateful for his ongoing commitment to charitable causes and his partnership in this project.
