At Defensor we design, develop and supply bespoke AOV control panels which fully integrate within the building. This approach ensures that the system is fully monitored by the Fire Alarm System. It also means that cabling between the control equipment and vents is minimised. This has the benefit of reducing both the cost and time involved in implementing this type of system.
Defensor developed and engineered this system solution in response to client needs for a retrospectively fitted controller of existing vents. We have successfully delivered this efficient solution working with many of the familiar brand named vents and controls.
With this system, your building is divided up into zones, each containing fire detectors and call points. All of these are wired to a central fire alarm control panel. When alarms are activated, the relevant zone will be clearly indicated on the central panel (usually by a flashing light). This information allows for expedient evacuation and is extremely helpful and efficient for fire fighting services.
This bears many similarities to a conventional system however it offers more advanced technology which means the control panel has the ability to identify exactly which detector or call-point has been triggered, as opposed to a more general zone.
These can sometimes be referred to as Intelligent Fire Alarm Systems. Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm Systems include sophisticated detectors, each of which is equipped with intelligent technology which is able to measure the environment around it and evaluate whether the perceived trigger is a genuine fire threat. It will assess whether there is the presence of smoke, heat or flames or if the trigger is due to a false alarm or fault in the system.
This is a complete analogue addressable fire alarm system but has the benefit of using secure radio communication to connect with smoke detector sensors and call-points without the use of wires. A common application of a wireless fire alarm system is in a large premises where it might be impractical to install a large amount of wiring.
As a further step to ensuring that your fire safety strategy is as robust as possible, it is important to evaluate what additional equipment would be useful in the event of a fire.
