Children’s Hospital

The children’s hospital we maintain is one of the leading paediatric centres in the UK, providing care for over 90,000 children and young people every year.  The hospital has a complex and diverse range of facilities, including wards, operating theatres, intensive care units, laboratories, offices and catering areas.  Ensuring the safety and security of these facilities and their occupants is both challenging and vital.

One of the key components of the hospital’s safety system, in the Notifier fire alarm, which covers the entire site and provides early detection and warning of any fire incidents.  It is a sophisticated and reliable system which integrates multiple devices, such as smoke detectors, sounders, beacons, manual call points and control panels.  The system also communicates with other systems, such as sprinklers, ventilation and access control.

The Notifier Fire Alarm system, requires regular maintenance and testing to ensure its optimal performance and compliance with the relevant standards and regulations.  Defensor Life Safety Systems has been working with Birmingham Children’s Hospital since 2018, providing comprehensive and bespoke maintenance services for their Notifier system.  Our services include scheduled inspections and tests of all devices and components of the fire alarm system, following the manufacturer’s recommendations and the British Standard BS 5839-1 : 2017.  We also undertake fault finding and repair of any issues or defects that may affect the functionality of integrity of the system.
